Posting An Article

Here is a step by step guide on how to post an article.

Step 1

You must first register yourself in order to be able to contribute articles in the blog. Scroll to somewhere down at the bottom of the edhamma.net web page and look for the “Log In / Register” header. Click on the “Register” link to start the registration process.

A password will be sent to your email for logging in. You may amend the password under the “Profile” link once you are logged in.

Upon successful registration, your status is “Subscriber” by default. This only allows you to make comments to published articles. It does not allow you to contribute articles.

To be able to contribute articles, you need to be upgraded to “Contributor” status. Only the Administrator can do that for you. Do notify the Administrator of your intent by emailing to admin@edhamma.net or use the Contact page at the website to send an email.

Step 2

Once you are logged in as Contributor, you are ready to post an article. Click on the “Posts” link at the top left corner under the Dashboard to enter the posting page.

Step 3

To start posting a new article, click on the “Add New” link at the top.

Step 4

Enter a title. Use upper cap for the starting letter of each word.

Step 5

Ensure that the “Visual” tab is selected if you are not familiar with HTML programming codes. This puts you in a what-you-see-is-what-you-get mode. Sometimes not exactly, preview and amend if necessary.

Step 6

Enter the contents. Contributors do not have the authority to attach pictures or set feature image to their articles. You may send your pictures to an Editor to help you to upload.

Step 7

Select an appropriate category. The default is “Uncategorized”, do not leave it as  that. If no suitable category is available in the list, inform the Editor to create a new one for you.  “Uncategorized” category should be avoided.

You may select more than one category if appropriate.

When the “Show” category is selected, your article will appear in the slide show at the home page, otherwise it won’t. Select show only when you have inserted a feature image to your article.

Step 8

Click on “Preview” link to preview the article to see how it will look like when published. Amend if necessary. The Golden Rule is “Assume Nothing, Test Everything”.

Step 9

Once you are happy with the preview, push the “Submit for Review” button. Notify the Administrator that your article is ready for publishing together with the pictures you want to insert. An Editor will vet, edit and attach your pictures to the article before publishing.

Lastly, if you encounter any trouble, contact helpdesk at Admin@eDhamma.net.

Happy posting!
